ProClime is proud to announce the launch of a large-scale Climate-Smart Agriculture and Land Management (SALM) project, engaging over 8,900 farmers across 15,000 hectares of farmland in seven districts of Karnataka.
The program will be implemented through a strong partnership ecosystem that brings together expertise from across sectors. Through a signed MoA, Vedic Green Solutions (VGS) will serve as the Project Implementation Partner, leading field coordination, farmer engagement, and on-ground execution.
Working alongside are the project’s not-for-profit partners, Bhoomi and the Wildlife Conservation Foundation (WCF), responsible for conducting baseline surveys, data collection, field training, and capacity-building initiatives to ensure transparency and accountability at every stage.
As the Project Developer, ProClime provides the overarching framework for financial structuring, climate program oversight, and carbon credit registration under internationally recognized standards such as VERRA and the Gold Standard.
This project focuses on empowering farmers to adopt Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) rice cultivation, agroforestry, and sustainable land management (SALM) practices that ultimately lead to improved soil health, optimized water use, and enhanced productivity.
Spanning the districts of Hassan, Coorg, Chikkamagaluru, Raichur, Tumkur, Mandya, and Mysore, the project unites over 30 farmer clusters representing a cross-section of Karnataka’s agro-climatic zones.
This farmer-led transformation positions Karnataka as a model for climate-smart, regenerative agriculture in India. The project’s integrated model bridges local participation with global climate finance, enabling farmers to become direct beneficiaries of verified carbon credit programs.
Designed with a 40-year project duration, this project ensures long-term climate resilience and socio-economic benefits for farming communities. Revenue generated through verified carbon credits will be reinvested into farmer welfare, supporting training, infrastructure, and innovation. Thus, creating a self-sustaining cycle of impact.
"“Our work with the farmers of Karnataka is about building resilience from the ground up, thereby ensuring that climate action directly improves livelihoods while restoring ecosystems.” - Kavin Kumar Kandasamy, Founder & CEO of ProClime. "
The project’s integrated model bridges local participation with global climate finance, enabling farmers to become direct beneficiaries.
This project reaffirms ProClime’s commitment to creating profitable climate action models that unite sustainability, scalability, and social equity.
As implementation begins, we will continue to share field-level insights and progress from Karnataka. Stay tuned for updates on how this collaboration is helping farmers build resilience, improve productivity, and contribute to a low-carbon future.
